The Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland has launched an initiative aimed at encouraging young PIANO players to take up an orchestral instrument and join the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland. This initiative is geared towards giving these young people aged 13 – 16yrs, the opportunity to join the Cross Border Orchestra and learn a new instrument.
WHEN AND WHERE
- Free group lessons are on 3 Sundays per month during the school year, in Coláiste Chu Chulainn Dundalk.
- The initiative will commence as soon as there are adequate number to form a small class.
- You will be provided with a Double Bass on loan
- We expect very fast progress. As soon as students are ready, they will become a full member of the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland and participate in our full schedule of
WHAT TO CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING
- When students join the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland, they must participate in:
- 3 orchestra rehearsals per month during term time
- the National Peace Proms Concert Tour i.e. 18 concerts held over 5 weekends in the spring of each year.
- When student join the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland, they cover their own travel, accommodation and subsistence costs while on tour.
- 100% commitment and attendance is required.
- Daily practice at home is essential
- All students must take the ABRSM music exam at the end of each year.
