The Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland has just launched an initiative aimed at encouraging young PIANO players to take up an orchestral instrument and join the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland. Piano players can already read the Bass Clef and usually have a strong foundation in reading rhythms, so learning Double Bass will not be difficult for them.
Each year the CBOI receives numerous enquiries from young people who play piano and would love to be in the Orchestra but can’t as they don’t play an orchestral instrument. This initiative is geared towards giving these young people aged 13 – 24yrs, the opportunity to join the Cross Border Orchestra and learn a new instrument.
The initiative will commence in September 2024. The CBOI will provide you with an Double Bass on loan, and will also provide a group lessons prior to each rehearsal on Sundays. In turn, programme participants will become a full member of the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland and participate in our full schedule of rehearsals and performances.
- Our Irish Arenatour consists of 18 concerts over 5 weekends in Spring of each year.
- There are 14 rehearsals on Sundays from September – January
- There is a 3-5 day workshop in August and at Christmas each year
While the instrument and lesson for this initiative will be provided FREE of change, all members cover their own travel, accommodation and subsistence costs for the Arena Tour. If you are interested in this initiative and commit to our schedule, fill out the form below.
