PRESS RELEASE: Peace Proms 2025. Celebrating 30 year.

The Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland Presents Peace Proms 2025: A Nationwide Celebration of Music, Youth, and Unity

Ireland’s acclaimed Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI) is set to embark on a thrilling musical showcase across the country with Peace Proms 2025, a series of 18 spectacular concerts that will kick off at the SETU Arena, Waterford on January 25th. The tour will also visit Dublin, Belfast, and Limerick, showcasing the extraordinary talent and unity fostered by the CBOI since its founding in 1995.

For nearly three decades, the CBOI has played a pivotal role in music education while promoting peace, unity, and tolerance across the island of Ireland. Peace Proms 2025 will serve as a powerful testament to this remarkable work.

An Inspirational Gathering of Talent

This year’s Peace Proms will feature a chorus of 35,000 children from all over Ireland and Northern Ireland, coming together as the Children’s Peace Choirs. These young voices will join forces with the 100-member internationally acclaimed Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland. Under the direction of celebrated conductor Greg Beardsell and led by Dundalk-born violinist Richie Dunne, the concerts promise to be an unforgettable celebration of youth, music, and talent on an epic scale.

A Truly Uplifting Experience for All Ages

Peace Proms 2025 is a must-see event for audiences of all ages. Celebrating cultural diversity, concerts will feature a stellar and diverse line-up of guest performers, including the award-winning vocalist Lauren Murphy, All-Ireland Uilleann Piper Conal Duffy, and world-champion Highland piper Grahame Harris. The recently formed ‘Peace Proms Pipes and Drums’, a new cross-community group made up of 25 young pipers and drummers from across Northern Ireland, will bring an even more powerful dynamic to the show. Audiences will also enjoy pulsating performances by Ulster Scots dancers from the Michelle Johnston School of Highland Dance in Belfast and Irish dancers from the Dance Hall Academy, Swords; the Magill School of Irish Dance, Waterford; and the Ryan School of Irish Dance in Limerick.

A Global Legacy of Peace and Reconciliation

Having performed in iconic global venues such as Carnegie Hall, New York, London’s Royal Albert Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall, and the Oriental Arts Centre in Shanghai, the CBOI continues to earn international acclaim. Throughout its distinguished history, the CBOI has also performed for numerous dignitaries, including President Michael D. Higgins and former Presidents of Ireland, King Charles III, President Obama, President Biden, and the late Queen Elizabeth II. The orchestra’s impactful performances at national and international events have consistently conveyed messages of peace, reconciliation, healing, and hope, earning them standing ovations and global recognition.

The CBOI extends its heartfelt gratitude to its sponsors, including the Goodman Foundation, Louth Meath Education and Training Board, the Arts Council of Ireland, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, the Department of Education and Skills, MediLink Ambulance Service, as well as all volunteers and supporters. Their generosity enables the CBOI to spread the joy of music and peace to children, families, schools, and communities globally.
