WHAT IS COUNT US IN? CUI is an initiative of the Cross Orchestra of Ireland. (CBOI). The CBOI is recognisednationally and internationally as leaders in music education.
- Free group music lessons for children
- Aged 9 – 12 Trombone, Trumpet, Double Bass, Clarinet, and Cello
- Aged 7 – 8 – Violin
- Aged 12 and over – Trombone and Double Bass
- Classes are on 3 Sundays per month at Coláiste Chu Chulainn, Dundalk
- Year 1: Free instrument on loan and weekly group lessons
- Year 2: Join the Count Us In Orchestra and receive free theory classes

- Over 150 children and young people currently participate in CUI
- An additional 120 young musicians are members of the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI)
- Many now studying music at university
- More than 30% achieve Distinctions in ABRSM music exams
- Modelled on the world-renowned ‘El Sistema’ method of music education, based on group learning and performance

- Ideal for families committed to serious music study and future participation in the CBOI
- Parents may be required to attend lessons with their child
- 100% attendance and commitment to Sunday lessons is essential
- Daily practice at home is required
- All students must sit the ABRSM music exam each year
- Violin should be started as early as possible due to its difficulty
- Trombone and Double Bass are recommended for children aged 12 and over
