Peace Proms was established in 2002 and is a FREE music education resource which brings the magic of music to almost 35,000 children in 700 primary schools across Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Peace Proms is more than just a music program – it promotes ‘peace through music’ and empowers young minds to make a positive impact on the world around them. The highlight of the program is our spectacular large-scale production featuring up to 3,000 choir members and our full symphony youth orchestra, all coming together in iconic venues throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Whether your school choir is already established or just starting out, Peace Proms is tailor-made for children aged 8-12 years. We ensure that the musical program is engaging, educational, and above all, fun! And the end result is nothing short of awe-inspiring – an unforgettable experience for everyone involved, from the choir members and their teachers to parents and audiences alike.

Presented by the renowned Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI), Peace Proms bringS together children from all over Ireland and Northern Ireland to sing for peace and a better world; spreading joy, hope, and positivity to all.

PEACE PROMS IS RECOMMENDED FOR:

  • Republic of Ireland Schools – 3rd Class & upwards
  • Northern Ireland Schools – P4 & upwards

PEACE PROMS INVOLVES

  1. IN SCHOOL LEARNING: With their teachers, children learn up to 8 songs or medleys in different genres. Schools are provided with a downloadable choir pack, and rehearsal tracks.
  2. REGIONAL WORKSHOPS: A series of workshops are held at venues across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Each school participates in ONE regional workshop which will take place in November/December during school hours and will be led by the concert conductor.
  3. PEACE PROMS CONCERT: 18 concerts are held across Ireland and Northern Ireland. All schools perform with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland and a host of top soloists in ONE concert which will take place in Spring each year. Concerts are usually held at the SSE Arena, Belfast; the Simmonscourt Arena, RDS, Dublin; the SETU Arena, Waterford; and UL Sports Arena, Limerick.

TIMELINE 

  1. May. Initial Registration: Schools should complete their ‘Registration of Interest’ on the Peace Proms portal
  2. September. Registration Confirmation: Schools will be asked to confirm their registration of interest. Only those schools who confirm their interest, will be offered a place in Peace Proms.
  3. September. Place offers application deadline: Schools which receive an offer of a place in Peace Proms must complete an application on the Peace Proms Portal by the end of September.
  4. October. Digital Music Packs: Schools which have completed their full application will be given access to the digital music pack which includes lyric sheets, sheet music, song and backing tracks, choreography videos.
  5. November 1st. Tickets released
  6. November, December. Choir Workshops: Peace Proms Choir workshop will be held throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland.
  7. January to March 2025. Concerts: Peace Proms Concerts will be held throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  1. When registering, schools should indicate the exact number of children who will participate in their choir.  
  2. All schools must participate in ONE choral workshop held in November/December  and ONE Concert held in January to March. **Schools which do not participate in the workshop will not be permitted to perform in the concert.
