The Dynamics Violin Project was launched by the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland in 2018 thanks to seed funding from Cllr Peter Savage, and further investment over 3 years from Louth Leader Partnership. Over 80 children in Co. Louth currently receive free daily violin tuition along with an instrument on loan. Dynamics is a pioneering project modelled on the Venezuelan system of music education which is centered on group learning and performance, and is regarded as the best in the world. Under the expert tutelage of violinist Marieclaire Brodie, and through daily lessons, the musical development of all of the children involved in the Dynamics programme has been extraordinary. In 2020 CBOI was honoured to receive a National Rural Impact Award for our Dynamics project.
We are delighted to announce the launch of our new Dynamics String Orchestra, starting in September. All of the children who have participated in the Dynamics programme since it began in 2018 can take part. Children who joined the programme in 2020 and 2021 will be eligible to join in September 2022. At a later stage, these young violinists can go on to become members of the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland
The Dynamics String Orchestra (DSO) will rehearse on one Sunday per month to begin with, in Coláiste Chu Chulainn, Dundalk. We are deeply indebted to Louth Meath Education and Training Board, and Tomás Sharkey, Principal at Coláiste Chu Chulainn for their generous support of the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland and all of our education programmes.
