High Hopes
by Evan Coyne, age 12, Dublin
I have high hopes for the future
How great the world can be
No more plastic in the oceans
No more pollution in the sea
I have high hopes for the future
Every child can be who they want to be
No more bullying in the playground
Loved for the person they want to be
I have high hopes for the future
No more homeless on the street
A safe place for everyone to have a cup of tea
I have high hopes for the future
That I turn out to be
A person someone can turn to
A friend for all who know me
Music of the Shop
by Oisin O’Raghallaigh, age 11, Galway
I went to the shop this morning,
Dressed all in blue and grey,
I put all the sounds into a bag
and carried them away.
The dinging of the till,
The banging of the bin,
The barking of the dog
because he’s not allowed in.
The chatting of the people,
The purring of the cat,
The rubbing of the feet
on the brand new mat.
The rustling of the bags,
The swishing of the mop,
The running of the people
to get to the shop.
I went to the shop this morning,
I didn’t leave my name,
I left them only silence
the shop will never be the same.
Dreams
by Cassia Doherty Mac Carthy, Age 9, Carlow
Through my dreams
A world I see
That’s full of peace
For you and me
A place to play
To share and grow
A happy place
I love to go
Come follow me
In my dreams
Where colours are bright
And people beam
It’s a magical world
That i can create
I love my dreams
Cause they are just
GREAT.
My Best Friend
by Olivia Whelan, Age 10, Belfast
I’ve known my best friend,
Since primary one,
She is very kind and really caring,
Loving and lots of fun.
She is very generous,
And super sweet,
She is funny and,
No one else can compete
She makes me smile
Everyday,
We love to sing,
And dance and play.
She makes me happy,
Whenever I am sad,
She always calms me down,
Whenever I am mad.
I don’t know what I’d do,
Without my best friend,
We will always be two peas in a pod,
Until the very.
