Fresh from an incredibly successful and highly acclaimed American tour which culminated in 10 standing ovations in Carnegie Hall, New York, the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI) has completed their Peace Proms 2015 Tour. Performing to over 30,000 people across the country, the CBOI’s monumental concert series included concerts in The Odyssey Arena Belfast, The RDS Arena Dublin and The University of Limerick Sports Arena.
The increase in popularity for this event amongst Irish schools, north and south is matched only by the enthusiasm of the CBOI’s young and talented musicians who hail from all over the island of Ireland.
The CBOI were joined onstage by Peace Choirs of over 15,000 schoolchildren representing counties all over the island of Ireland.
Cross traditions were highlighted by the presence of the soloist piper Grahame Harris, Belfast, The Colmcille Pipe Band, est. 1978, Derry/Londonderry and the young pipers of the RSPBANI.
17 year old soprano, Megan Ruby Walsh, winner of the CBOI talent competition: The Soloist 2014, Emmett Cahill, Tenor, recently returned from a 4 year tour of America and Australia with Celtic Thunder, Colm O’Reilly, New York City, Tenor and MC, Solo Violinist Patricia Treacy and Uilleann Pipe Player Paddy Martin along with the RooneyO’MalleyMaguire Irish dancers all added their own mix of explosive talent which provided a spectacle for the audience which none will ever forget!
