Last year’s joint winners were pianist Daniel Kearney from Dungarvan and mezzo-soprano Sarah Richmond from Carrickfergus. Speaking of his year with the CBOI Daniel said: “My time with the orchestra was unforgettable. I learned so much about my own playing and performing through the whole experience and I could live off the encouragement I received from the other musicians, and all the parents for the next two years! To be able to say I performed to almost 40,000 people and performed in the SSE Arena in Belfast are two glowing things to add to my CV that will really help me stand out!” While Sarah said: “I had an amazing year with the CBOI, the whole team made me feel like a friend. It was fantastic getting to work with conductor Greg Beardsell and all the wonderful musicians in the Orchestra. It’s been an absolutely incredible experience that I’ll never forget.”
